Reinis Nitišs

This weekend, the Kurzeme region hosted a round of the FIA European Rally Championship, Rally Liepāja. There, Reinis Nitišs and Andris Mālnieks finished third in both ERC3 and ERC3 Junior classes.

Nearly 200 total stage kilometres on the Talsi and Liepāja region roads were a real challenge for all top Baltic and European drivers. In addition to the European Rally Championship, Rally Liepāja also hosted two rounds of the Latvian Rally Championship.

“Rally Liepāja was definitely the most significant event of our season, and this result shows that we have been moving in the right direction and have made significant progress since the beginning of the season. Throughout the weekend, we were in a close battle with a crew from Estonia, and there was a lot of excitement. However, it was important to maintain focus and keep a pace that is in line with our experience, so that we do not make any silly mistakes that could result in lost time or even retirement from the rally,” says Reinis Nitišs.

“I will freely admit that there are still lots of things to work on, but this result brings not just joy but also motivation to work even harder and fight for the top spots in the future. It is great that we could have a good showing in front of so many fans at the stages and I would like to thank my team and sponsors, without whom it would not be possible to get such a great result.”

“This is another step forward in our rally programme. Yes, there were a few moments on the stages, but in events like this, you have to know when you can go over the limit and when it just is not worth it. I believe that we managed to maintain balance in both of these aspects and Reinis earned valuable experience he was sorely missing before – especially on the wider and faster stages of Sunday,” adds co-driver Andris Mālnieks.

In the Latvian Rally Championship rounds, Nitišs earned two second places in LRČ3 class, and won the Junior class of round three.
