SEASON FINALE IN FRONT OF LATVIAN FANS

This weekend, the CSDD Biķernieki Circuit will host the fifth and final round of the 2018 FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar class. A total of 29 drivers will compete in Neste World RX of Latvia, including all drivers who have set at least one fastest time in qualifying this year – Reinis Nitišs, Anton Marklund, Cyril Raymond, Thomas Bryntesson, and Krisztian Szabo. LTV7 and LMT Straume will broadcast the heats on September 15 and 16.

“Finally, we have come to Latvia, which is also the final event of the season. There has been a bit more preparation work than before other events, so I am happy to live at the track starting from today, where I will be able to focus on my official duties – this will make it possible to focus on the event itself.

I know the Rīga circuit well, with some of its main characteristics being high grip and barriers at the sides of the road – when going into a corner, you must rely on memory for the rest of it, as the barriers conceal its ending from sight. It is unlikely that there will be many differences in terms of pace between the drivers compared to the previous round, and I know that I can be quick here. This is a very important event, and both Marklund and Raymond will surely do everything in their power to get me out of my rhythm, but I am ready for that and will not give in to any provocations. All my focus is on precise driving and making good starts.

I cannot wait for the moment when the circuit will be opened to spectators and I get to meet all my supporters – the feeling of driving in front of thousands of Latvian fans is indescribable. I will do my best to be available to you all, but on race days that will likely be after the heats, when my main tasks will have been done.

Today, there will also be a driver’s parade in Rīga old town – this is something new and I do not really know what to expect, but it will definitely be a gorgeous event. I would like to invite everyone to come and meet myself and World RX drivers – you do not get such an opportunity often! In addition to that, you can also see the rallycross cars up close. See you there!” says Reinis Nitišs.
